Biography

Eric G. Devine, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in Psychiatry with a focus on General Psychiatry. He received his PhD from Bowling Green State University. Dr. Devine is the director of the Clinical Studies Unit in the Department of Psychiatry at Boston Medical Center and serves as Vice-Chair of the Boston Medical Center Institutional Review Board. He teaches addiction treatment courses in the Mental Health Counseling Behavioral Medicine Program and the Professional Education Program at the BU School of Social Work. His research interests include medication development, clinical trials, psychosocial treatments for substance use disorders, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Dr. Devine has been involved in multiple NIAAA and NIDA-funded trials focusing on the treatment of substance use disorders and has co-authored treatment manuals for online behavioral platforms. He is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT).
