Biography

Eric Eaton is a research associate professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania, where he is also a faculty member of the General Robotics, Automation, Sensing, and Perception (GRASP) lab. His research develops machine learning and artificial intelligence systems that are versatile and can be deployed for extended periods in complex dynamic environments. His work integrates techniques from continual and lifelong learning, transfer learning, multi-task learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, multimodal learning, collaborative AI, machine perception, and robotic control to address problems in autonomous robotics and precision medicine. He holds secondary appointments in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and is a senior fellow at the Penn Institute of Biomedical Informatics. Additionally, he serves as the technical advisor for Penn Health-Tech and is recognized as an international leader in AI Education. Notably, Eric has contributed to the development of the ACM/IEEE/AAAI Computer Science 2023 curriculum, utilized by institutions worldwide.
