Biography

Eric Eberhard is an esteemed professor of practice and associate director at the Native American Law Center of the University of Washington School of Law. He began his career practicing federal Indian law in 1973, providing legal services on Navajo, Hopi, and White Mountain Apache reservations. Notably, he served as Deputy Attorney General for the Navajo Nation and as Executive Director of the Navajo Nation Washington Office from 1983 to 1987, as well as Staff Director and General Counsel for the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs from 1989 to 1995. Eberhard's legal practice encompasses a wide array of Indian law sectors, including fee-to-trust transfers, water rights, leasing land for natural resources, federal contracting, and tribal governance. His distinguished career includes recognitions as a Distinguished Indian Law Practitioner at Seattle University School of Law and numerous awards for his contributions to the field including lifetime achievement accolades from various legal associations. He holds a B.A. from Western Reserve University, a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati, and an LL.M from George Washington University.
