Biography

Eric Isaac Elliott obtained his MD and PhD in Molecular Cellular Biology from the University of Iowa's Roy J. Lucille Carver College of Medicine in 2018. His research primarily focuses on innate immune mechanisms, specifically how cells sense pathogens and respond to cellular stress, investigating the dysregulation of these systems related to infectious disease and autoimmune inflammation. His doctoral thesis highlighted the role of mitochondrial phospholipid cardiolipin in NLRP3 inflammasome activation. Dr. Elliott’s research has been instrumental in detailing the interactions between mitochondrial dynamics and immune response, shedding light on the processes that lead to inflammation and cell death. He has published significant findings in reputable journals, addressing key mechanisms in inflammasome activation and the roles of various proteins and lipids in this process.
