Dr. Eric Halgren

Biography

Eric Halgren is a professor of Radiology at the University of California, San Diego, specializing in the interdisciplinary fields of neuroscience and neuroimaging. With a strong educational background, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of California, San Diego in 1971, followed by a Ph.D. in Neurosciences from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1976 and a postdoctoral training at the Brain Research Institute in UCLA. His research has been extensively funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for projects such as exploring the effects of electrical stimulation on the brain, analyzing human EEG and MEG data with multiscale neuronal models, and investigating neural mechanisms underlying cognitive functions. Over the years, he has held key roles as both principal and co-principal investigator in various studies, contributing significantly to understanding neural dynamics and brain imaging processes. Halgren's published work has contributed to the field's technological advancements, including the development of automated brain parcellation methods and enhanced fMRI task design methodologies.
