Biography
Éric Lacourse has been engaged as a professor in the Department of Sociology to develop teaching and research in statistics/social data science. He specializes in the application of unsupervised learning statistical models and is one of the pioneers of online teaching in statistics. He trains in statistics/data science at the Praxis Professional Training Center and EDUlib. He holds a Ph.D. in education psychology from the Université de Montréal and has a postdoctoral training at the research center of the Ste-Justine Hospital in Montreal as well as at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He has been involved in various projects relating to social inequalities and their impacts on child development, receiving recognitions for his work. His teaching and research encompass quantitative and qualitative methods, and he actively recruits graduate students interested in these areas.
