Biography

Eric Liberda is a Director Professor at the School of Occupational and Public Health at Toronto Metropolitan University. He has expertise in Toxicology, Pandemic Planning, Inhalation Exposures, and Risk Assessment. Liberda earned his undergraduate and master's degree in Environmental Health from the University of Waterloo and later completed a second master’s degree in Toxicology from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia. He completed his doctorate in Environmental Medicine with a focus on Environmental Health Sciences and Exposure Assessment Toxicology at the New York University School of Medicine. Liberda is actively involved in several professional societies, including the Society of Toxicology and the Society of Toxicology Canada, and works to improve human health and health policy using science-based research. His work has resulted in numerous publications and grants aimed at protecting Canadians from the adverse health effects of various toxicants, including pesticides, toxic metals, and nanoparticles. He also focuses on working with local and remote Indigenous communities, implementing novel technological tools and statistical methods including 3D printing and machine learning to address health issues of concern.
