Biography

Eric Overby joined the Scheller College of Business faculty in the fall of 2007 after completing his Ph.D. at Emory University. His research is primarily focused on the migration of traditional physical activities and processes to electronic environments, examining implications across various contexts such as the wholesale used car market, consumer lending, medical records, and news media. Overby’s work has been published in reputable academic journals including Management Science, Information Systems Research, and the MIS Quarterly. He received the inaugural Sandy Slaughter Early Career Award from INFORMS Information Systems Society in 2015 and the Brady Family Award for Faculty Research Excellence from the Scheller College in 2022. Overby serves as the Faculty Director of the Steven Denning Technology & Management Program and the Chief AI Data Officer Certificate Program at Georgia Tech. He has also contributed significantly to academic governance, serving on various committees such as the Provost’s Advisory Committee and as chair of the review, promotion, and tenure committee at Scheller. In addition, he has held the position of Associate Editor for Management Science from 2013 to 2025, where he earned multiple awards for his editorial reviewing service and has received numerous teaching accolades over his academic career.
