Professor Dr. Eric Pedersen

Biography

Eric Pedersen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Concordia University. His research focuses on quantitative ecology and the dynamics of fish populations within marine and freshwater communities. He is particularly interested in rapid ecological changes and the collapse of previously dominant species, as well as the explosive growth of previously rare species. Pedersen utilizes long-term ecological data and statistical, computational, and theoretical tools to understand the underlying causes of ecological changes in fished communities. His work aims to develop new statistical frameworks and refine existing methods to better monitor and detect long-term ecological shifts, from small lakes to entire oceans. In addition to his teaching commitments, he has authored various publications, contributing significantly to the field of ecology and fisheries management.
