Dr. Eric Rosenbach

Biography

Eric Rosenbach is a Senior Lecturer in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, where he directs the Defense, Emerging Technology, and Strategy Program at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. He has significant experience in government, having served as Chief of Staff to Secretary of Defense Ash Carter and as a senior advisor on key national security issues. Rosenbach has taught graduate courses focusing on policy development and strategy execution, as well as online courses for HarvardX about managing cyber risk and public sector strategy. His past roles include Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cyber Policy and professional staff member on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. An Army intelligence officer, he led efforts supporting military commanders in multiple conflicts, including in Bosnia and Kosovo. Rosenbach is also a published author, with works addressing strategic approaches to cyber risk and U.S. military engagements. He holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University, a Master of Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, and a Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College. Rosenbach's expertise centers on the intersection of technology, security, and public leadership, and he is actively involved in projects that enhance understanding of contemporary security challenges.
