Biography

Dr. Eric Ruppert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at York University. He received his education at the University of Toronto and has been teaching computer science at York University since the year 2000. In addition to his teaching role, he spent time as a postdoctoral fellow at Brown University and served as a visiting professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. His research interests include the theory of distributed computing and algorithm design, specifically focusing on lower bound proofs. Recently, he has concentrated his research efforts on the design and analysis of shared-memory data structures, particularly in the context of exploiting the capabilities of multi-core architectures. At York, he teaches several computer science courses and enjoys coaching students for the annual ACM programming contest.
