Eric Sargis is a Professor in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at Yale University, where he also serves as the Curator of Zoology at the Peabody Museum. He holds a Ph.D. from the City University of New York, with a focus on Evolutionary Primatology, and a B.S. from Northern Illinois University. His research interests primarily involve functional morphology and phylogenetics of mammals, including both extant and extinct species. He has studied evolutionary morphology in various groups, such as primates and treeshrews (Scandentia). His work emphasizes functional postcranial morphology in treeshrews and the supraordinal relationships among primates and euarchontan mammals. Additionally, Sargis continues to collaborate with colleagues on investigating interordinal and intraordinal relationships within the primate lineage. He teaches courses on Human Osteology and Primate Diversity and Evolution, contributing significantly to the academic community through his research and educational efforts.
