Biography

Professor Eric C. Shen has over 30 years of experience in transportation infrastructure with a focus on intermodal planning and design, capital project delivery, and operations. He is the founder and CEO of Shen Associates, LLC, a consulting practice based in Southern California that advises public agencies and private clients on multimodal planning, program management, and interagency coordination. Since 2008, he has taught at the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering and the Sol Price School of Public Policy, where he currently teaches courses in sustainable transportation and transportation studio, and serves as the faculty advisor for the USC student chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). In addition to his teaching role, Professor Shen has been actively involved in mentorship at USC and on an international level with ITE, as well as continued involvement with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He has served on the boards of WTS-Los Angeles and the California Transportation Foundation, and remains active in supporting inclusive leadership and professional development within the transportation field. Professor Shen is a licensed Professional Engineer in California and Alabama, and holds certifications as a Professional Transportation Planner (PTP) and Certified Port Executive (CPE). He is a Fellow of ASCE and ITE, recognized for his professional contributions, educational leadership, and community involvement.
