Biography

Éric Troncy graduated from the École Nationale Vétérinaire de Lyon (France) and earned his PhD in biomedical sciences from the Université de Montréal, as well as a Doctorate in pharmacology from the Université Louis Pasteur de Strasbourg. He is the Director of the Groupe de recherche en pharmacologie animale du Québec (GREPAQ) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Université de Montréal. His research interests focus on animal pain metrology and relief, particularly in relation to arthrosis. He was recognized as 'Veterinarian of the Year 2001' in France for promoting surgical pain management in companion animals and received the 'Knight of the Order of Agricultural Merit' from the French Republic in 2009 for his work against pain and Franco-Quebec rapprochement. He was also named 'Researcher of the Year 2010' at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Over his academic career since 1998, he has supervised 49 graduate students and published extensively in his field, including 118 research articles and 137 invited conferences. His research is funded by national and provincial organizations and is well connected to the biomedical industry.
