Biography

Eric Vaz is a Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. His academic focus centers on Spatial Analysis methods, Geographic Information Systems, and complex system modeling approaches to understand regional dynamics and inform policy within the framework of the Anthropocene. He has contributed significantly to the field, with over eighty scientific publications, and he has held distinguished positions, such as Group Leader in Geographic Information Science at the University of Heidelberg prior to his tenure at Toronto Metropolitan University. He received the Dean's SRC Award from the Faculty of Arts in 2015 and was nominated for the 'Rising Star' by the Regional Science Association International in 2012. His research interests encompass areas such as Geographical Information Systems, Spatial Analysis, Regional Science, Spatial Epidemiology, Business Geography, Archaeology, Heritage Landscapes, and Complex Systems Science.
