Dr. Eric Werker

Biography

Eric Werker is the William Saywell Professor at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University, and the Academic Director of its Flex Masters in Business Administration programs. He specializes in the influence of external actors on the economic and political outcomes of countries, focusing particularly on the role of the private sector in development. His research addresses issues such as resource governance, foreign aid, and the economic impacts of crises such as Ebola. An experienced educator, Eric teaches courses in strategy, policy, and global economics, contributing significantly to case studies involving various countries and companies globally. He served as the chief economist and co-founder of Inference Economics, providing economic advisory. He has been involved in numerous international organizations as a research affiliate and has engaged in important discussions around sustainable development policies. His work includes collaborative research on the economic diversification of resource-rich economies and he has made substantial contributions to academic literature, publishing numerous articles in high-impact journals.
