Eric Williamson holds the Class ’53 Distinguished Chair in Civil Engineering at the United States Military Academy and is a professor in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also holds the Phil M. Ferguson Professorship in Engineering. His research focuses on response structures near the onset of collapse, with particular emphasis on structures subjected to blast and impact loads as well as progressive collapse. In 2009, he was awarded the ASCE Walter L. Huber Research Prize for his contributions to the analysis and design of bridges subjected to blast loads. He participates in technical committees at the national level and has held leadership positions in the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Concrete Institute. Williamson is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. Prior to joining the University of Texas at Austin, he worked as a research engineer at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, TX.
