Eric Williamson is a Distinguished Chair in Civil Engineering and professor at the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He previously served as a professor at the United States Military Academy. Williamson's research is focused on the response of structures near the onset of collapse, with particular emphasis on structures subjected to blast and impact loads as well as progressive collapse analysis. He has been recognized for his contributions to the analysis and design of bridges that are subjected to blast loads, earning the ASCE Walter L. Huber Research Prize in 2009. He actively participates in technical committees at the national level and has held leadership roles in the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Concrete Institute. Prior to his academic career, Williamson worked as a research engineer at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas.
