Dr. Eric Windholz

Biography

Eric Windholz is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at Monash University, where he serves as the Director of the Juris Doctor course and as an Associate at the Centre for Commercial Law and Regulatory Studies. He holds a PhD from Monash University, an MBA from the University of Melbourne, and a joint Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from Monash University. His extensive research expertise lies in regulatory theory and practice, particularly its application in sports law. Windholz's work explores the intersection of business, government, and civil society to inform public policy development, legal frameworks, and regulatory system design and implementation, especially in international and national sporting contexts. He has conducted significant research addressing regulatory regimes in various sectors, including occupational health and safety and environmental protection. With over 30 years of experience across regulated industries in Australia, the United States, and Asia, he adopts a multi-disciplinary approach combining law, public policy, and regulation. Windholz is the author of the book 'Governing Regulation: Public Policy, Regulation Law' and has written numerous articles published in both general law and specialist journals. He engages actively in collaborative research, consulting with government and industry partners on regulatory issues, and delivering presentations at conferences. Additionally, he supports the academic growth of his students, maintaining high teaching evaluations and supervising PhD and Honours candidates.
