Biography

Erica Bisesi has a multidisciplinary background with a PhD in Mathematics and Physics, a Master's in Piano Performance, and a Master's in Astrophysics. She is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Music, University of Montreal, and a postdoctoral researcher in astrobiology at the Astronomical Observatory of Trieste – National Institute of Astrophysics in Italy. Bisesi collaborates on music cognition research with the Pasteur Institute in Paris and the Advanced Mathematical Research Institute at the University of Strasbourg. She has taught acoustics and psychoacoustics at the Udine Conservatory (Italy) and the University of Graz, and has led musicology projects at various institutions, collaborating with universities and conservatories across several countries including Canada and several European nations. Her research interests as a musicologist include computational musicology, psychology of music, musical interpretation, and music theory. As an astrobiologist, she focuses on climate modeling of exoplanets and the evolution of life on rocky planets. Additionally, Bisesi regularly performs as a pianist in solo and chamber music ensembles.
