Biography

Erica Neeganagwedgin is an Associate Professor in Critical Policy and Equity Leadership Studies at Western University’s Faculty of Education. She holds a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Sociology Equity Studies in Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Her research focuses on Indigenous knowledge systems and epistemologies, the history of Indigenous Education in North America, and educational policies impacting Indigenous communities. Neeganagwedgin's work examines Indigenous history, particularly as it relates to the Taino people, and engages with Indigenous research methodologies. She teaches courses on educational research and Aboriginal education. Her publications include contributions to the International Encyclopedia of Education and other journals dedicated to Indigenous studies and education. Through her scholarship, she aims to honor ancestral legacies and promote the recognition and integration of Indigenous perspectives in educational practices. Neeganagwedgin is committed to advancing equity in education through her teaching and research.
