Biography

Erich Graf joined the Department of Psychology at the University of Southampton in 2004. He is currently an Associate Professor in Experimental Psychology. His research is centered on perception, specifically examining how humans utilize information from incoming sensory inputs to build rich, vibrant 3D models of the external world. Erich is a member of the Centre for Perception and Cognition (CPC) and is involved in several research projects, including flexible cognition in robotics and manufacturing. He has also contributed to completed projects like 'Resolution Ambiguity in Visual Scenes', sponsored by the Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council, and has researched the relationship between three-dimensional surface statistics in natural scenes. Erich received his PhD in Vision Science from the University of California, Berkeley, under the supervision of Clifton Schor. He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Washington and received an International Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation (USA), allowing him to conduct research at the University of Glasgow. He started at Southampton as a lecturer and has grown to assume his current role as Associate Professor.
