Biography

I am a historian specializing in the intersection of science and technology in the 20th century, particularly in relation to aerospace. I previously worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory before relocating to Purdue University in 2025. My recent book, "The Big Myth: How American Business Taught Us to Loathe Government and Love the Free Market" co-authored with Naomi Oreskes, reflects my research interests. Additionally, I published "A History of Near-Earth Objects Research" with Donald K. Yeomans and Meg Rosenburg, released by NASA in July 2022. My current research includes the development of Earth and planetary sciences in the 20th century, personal narratives of Mars exploration, and agnotology. I also welcome students interested in the history of Earth and planetary sciences, aerospace history, and the historiography of science and technology policy in the United States.
