Biography

Erik Fredenberg is an Adjunct Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in the Division of Medical Imaging. He received his PhD in Medical Physics from KTH in 2009, focusing on x-ray optics in photon-counting mammography. His research has been funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research and GE Healthcare, with a strong emphasis on developing performance evaluation tools for photon-counting computed tomography (CT). This innovative technology allows for higher spatial resolution than conventional methods and facilitates the detection and diagnosis of diseases. Fredenberg's work aims to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of new applications in radiology through virtual clinical trials, creating computer simulation tools that closely mimic the clinical trial process while minimizing patient exposure to radiation. Currently, he holds a position as Principal Scientist at GE Healthcare, collaborating with a team of scientists, algorithm developers, and physicists to advance medical imaging technology.
