Professor Erik Petigura joined the Astronomy and Astrophysics Division in July 2019. His main research interests include the discovery and characterization of extrasolar planets, utilizing both ground-based and space-based telescopes. Prior to his appointment at UCLA, Professor Petigura was a Hubble Postdoctoral Fellow at Caltech. He completed his undergraduate work in physics and astrophysics at UC Berkeley, where his thesis focused on using the Kepler space telescope to measure the prevalence of planets similar in size to Earth.
