Dr. Erik Van Raaij

Biography

Erik van Raaij is a Professor of Sustainable Procurement at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management and the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has been appointed as a Medical Delta professor at TU Delft in the Industrial Design Engineering department. Erik completed his Engineering degree and PhD in Marketing at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. His research has been published in several international academic journals across various disciplines including Health Policy, Endoscopy, and the Journal of Supply Chain Management. He serves as a Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Purchasing & Supply Management and is an active member of multiple academic and professional organizations, such as the Erasmus Research Institute of Management and the Dutch Purchasing Association. Erik’s current research interests focus on Sustainability and Circularity, Healthcare procurement, and Buyer-supplier relationships, employing empirical research methods. He has received commendations for his teaching excellence and has contributed to developing online courses that address business sustainability goals. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he is involved in advisory committees and presentations, indicating his commitment to applying research to practical and policy-related challenges in healthcare procurement.
