Biography

Erika Forsberg is an Associate Professor at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University, Sweden, where she completed her PhD in 2009. Her research addresses contagion effects and the transnational dimensions of civil war, with a particular focus on the gender dimensions of civil war and peacebuilding. She has conducted significant studies on how war-related trauma affects women and men differently and how those differences influence attitudes towards civil peacebuilding. Forsberg's research has been published in prominent journals such as the Journal of Peace Research and International Studies Quarterly. She has extensive fieldwork experience in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Forsberg leads several research projects including a disaggregated analysis of gender inequality in armed conflict and the effects of war trauma on women's peacebuilding efforts, funded by the Swedish Research Council. Her work critically examines the gendered differences in psychological health issues stemming from war-related trauma and their impact on post-conflict peacebuilding practices.
