Dr. Erika Meucci

Biography

Erika Meucci is a lecturer at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) Europe, focusing on Mathematics and Statistics. She has an extensive academic background, having earned her PhD in Mathematics from the University of Utah. My research and teaching interests are intertwined; I aim to communicate the fundamental tools of statistical analysis necessary for empirical research in economics and social sciences. My courses cover a variety of topics like descriptive statistics, probability distributions, and regression analysis, emphasizing practical applications using software such as STATA and Excel. In addition to foundational mathematical concepts, I explore advanced topics, including data mining and Machine Learning algorithms. With a commitment to student engagement, I leverage real-world examples across disciplines like political science and economics to illustrate the importance of statistical methods in our data-driven world. My teaching philosophy centers on equipping students with the skills to critically evaluate empirical studies and make informed decisions based on statistical data. I am fluent in French, Italian, and Spanish, which enhances my ability to connect with a diverse student body.
