Biography

Erin Benton is an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at The University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on intimate partner violence (IPV), HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) adoption, sexual decision-making, hookup culture, and purity culture among college students. She has extensive experience in health behavior and health education, having previously served as an assistant professor in public health at Winston-Salem State University. Dr. Benton earned her Ph.D. in Health Behavior and Health Education from The University of Texas at Austin, her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Community Health from Baylor University, and her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Health Promotion and Health Education from Boise State University. Her work aims to address critical issues in sexual health, including sexual assault, and the dynamics of college students' relationships.
