Biography

Erin Keating has been teaching at the University of Manitoba since 2013. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of English, Theatre, Film & Media. Erin's varied teaching and research interests connect her fascination with audience reception studies and the ways popular culture reflects, resists, and normalizes competing ideologies. She is a co-editor of the journal Restoration: Studies in Literature and Culture. Erin holds a PhD in English from Simon Fraser University (2012), an MA in English from Concordia University (2006), and a BA in English Philosophy from Wilfrid Laurier University (1998). Her research interests encompass Restoration prose theater, secret history, affect theory, fantasy across various media, and celebrity studies. Erin is involved in supervising theses on critical subjects related to her research areas, including topics of gender and race in popular culture. She has received multiple awards for her teaching excellence, including the Olive Beatrice Stanton Award in 2020 and a Merit Award for Service in 2021.
