Erin E. Kelly’s research focuses on intersections of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century English literature and reformation religious discourse. She is currently in the process of completing a book project with the working title 'Performing Conversion in Early Modern England'. Her published articles and essays cover topics including Foxe's massive Protestant martyrology and post-reformation performances of cycle plays. Dr. Kelly served as an associate editor for the journal 'Early Theatre' in 2011. Her literature classes introduce students to early printed books and manuscript history, while they also have the opportunity to study as participants in the NEH summer seminar entitled 'The Reformation Book' at the Folger Shakespeare Library. Additional interests include performance theory and theatre history. She is in the process of preparing a new edition of Shakespeare's 'Taming of the Shrew' for Broadview Press. Dr. Kelly draws upon classical, early modern, and contemporary rhetorical composition theories to enhance her teaching and to help students develop writing skills. She oversees courses in the Academic Writing Program in the English department that fulfill the university’s Academic Writing Requirement.
