Biography

Erla P. Heyns joined the University of Wisconsin–Madison as Dean and Vice Provost for Libraries on January 1, 2024, bringing extensive experience in academic library leadership. Prior to her current role, she served as an associate professor and associate dean for learning at Purdue University Libraries in the School of Information Studies. Her previous positions also included director of the Flower/Sprecher Veterinary Library at Cornell University and coordinator for engineering and physical sciences libraries. Additionally, she was the head of Indiana University’s Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Library. Her research interests focus on academic library leadership, management, administration, and mentoring within the field.
