Dr. Ernest Grant

Biography

Ernest Grant is an Associate Clinical Professor at the School of Nursing at Duke University. His research focuses on the social determinants of health, particularly in the context of nursing, with an emphasis on the underrepresentation of Black men in nursing and the challenges they face in the healthcare system. His work explores systemic barriers such as implicit bias and limited access to advanced education, and he actively participates in mentorship programs aimed at increasing diversity within the nursing workforce. In his recent publications, Grant has addressed issues of diversity and equity in healthcare leadership, and he has highlighted the experiences of Black male nurses through oral histories. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S.N. from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and he is committed to advancing the representation and success of Black professionals in nursing.
