Ernst Bohlmeijer graduated in 2007, focusing his research on the effects of life-review on depression in older adults. He worked as an associate professor until 2011 when he became a full professor at the Department of Psychology, Health & Technology at the University of Twente. His research topics include mental health promotion and the integration of technology in mental health care. He holds a special interest in the development and evaluation of innovative web-based interventions for health care. He has served as principal investigator and supervisor for 12 randomized controlled trials and has created interventions aimed at enhancing resilience and well-being while reducing distress, based on principles of positive psychology and acceptance commitment therapy. Since 2012, Bohlmeijer has co-published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, three scientific books, and six popular books, and has held editorial positions, including that of editor for the Dutch Handbook of Positive Psychology. He has been awarded 10 grants from the Netherlands Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw).
