Professor Dr. Ernst Lengyel

Biography

Ernst Lengyel, MD, PhD, is the Arthur L. Lee G. Herbst Distinguished Service Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UChicago Medicine. He is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic malignancies, with a particular focus on ovarian, cervical, and endometrial cancers. Dr. Lengyel is known for his advanced surgical techniques aimed at improving patient outcomes, including the performance of complex pelvic surgeries. In addition to his clinical practice, he operates a research laboratory within the Center for Integrative Science, focusing on new therapies for treating ovarian cancer, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He has a strong commitment to education and mentorship, overseeing residents and postdoctoral fellows in gynecologic oncology. His contributions to the field have earned him recognition as one of Chicago Magazine's “Top Doctors” for ovarian and cervical cancer care.
