Biography

Ery Arias-Castro received a Ph.D. in Statistics from Stanford University in 2004. Following his Ph.D., he took a postdoctoral position at the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) where he participated in a program on Multiscale Geometry and Analysis in High Dimensions. He also held a postdoctoral position at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) and participated in a program focused on the Mathematical and Computational Statistical Aspects of Image Analysis. In 2005, he joined the faculty in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). His research interests include high-dimensional statistics, machine learning, spatial statistics, image processing, and applied probability.
