Biography

Esben Bolvig Mark is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University, focusing on gastrointestinal function, dysmotility, neurogenic bowel dysfunction, and opioid-induced constipation. As a member of the “Ascona” guideline group, he collaborates with international motility experts and clinicians to develop recommendations for clinical assessments of gastroduodenal function, leading the MRI working subgroup. Esben is also involved in international research collaborations across various countries, including the USA, London, Lausanne, Leuven, China, Norway, Sweden, Amsterdam, and Riga. His teaching profile includes supervising students at the bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels, with a particular focus on clinical research, measurement methodology, and patient-reported outcomes. He has co-supervised multiple PhD students and teaches a PhD course on patient-reported outcome measures, integrating theoretical principles with practical clinical applications.
