Esen Karamursel Akpek is a Professor of Ophthalmology and the Division Chief of Ocular Immunology at Duke University. She is a globally recognized authority on advanced corneal transplantation, stem cell transplantation, and ocular surface reconstruction. Dr. Akpek is a passionate educator and has mentored many ophthalmologists globally, organizing internationally recognized educational programs and delivering lectures worldwide. Her leadership roles extend to serving on editorial boards of six scientific journals and being a Board Member of the Cornea Society.
