Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Esther Amstad. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Esther Amstad studied Material Science at ETH Zurich and completed her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Marcus Textor. Her thesis focused on surface modification and steric stabilization of oxide nanoparticles. After completing her PhD in 2011, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University in the group of David Weitz, where she utilized droplet-based microfluidics to assemble various types of functional micro- and nanomaterials. She also developed new microfluidic devices that enabled the production of small airborne drops, which are capable of generating highly monodisperse emulsion drops at high throughput. In June 2014, Esther joined the Department of Materials Science at EPFL, where she leads the Soft Materials Laboratory (SMAL). Her academic interests include soft matter and related teaching in various seminars and courses.
