Biography

Esther joined DTU Compute as a Postdoctoral Researcher in September 2024, bringing extensive expertise in modeling, programming, and data science optimization. Her research focuses on developing and testing new methods and algorithms for controlling energy flexibility in building management. As part of the Dynamical Systems Section at DTU Compute, she plays a key role in the EU-funded SEEDS project, which aims to create renewable energy-integrated solutions for electrified heating and cooling systems to improve energy efficiency and demand response. Prior to joining DTU, Esther was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Architecture Building Systems Group at ETH Zurich, where she led the HiLo living lab and developed data-driven modeling control approaches for buildings while dedicating half her time to teaching. Her academic journey includes earning a PhD from the Institute of Environmental Design Engineering at University College London, where she developed an integrated modeling approach for control algorithms for adaptive façades using co-simulation. She is passionate about using technology to create energy-efficient and flexible buildings that benefit both people and the environment, with particular interests in optimal control of smart buildings and the integration of data science and artificial intelligence.
