Esther joined King's in 2019 after five years at the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, where she served as an Assistant Professor of Postcolonial Literature. She earned her SSHRC-funded Ph.D. and MA in English from the University of Toronto, following a year of African Studies at the University of Ghana and a Diploma in Theatre Studies and Performance from Red Deer College. She is engaged in public discourse, having contributed to interviews and discussions on Afrofuturism and Black British popular arts, and she has published articles on Ghanaian market fiction and graphic novels in various academic journals. Esther advocates for radical equality in children's literature, as evident in her selected publications. She is actively involved in collaborative research projects with international universities, including a recent initiative with Algerian institutions.
