Dr. Esther John

Biography

Esther M. John is a Professor (Research) at Stanford University, specializing in Epidemiology and Population Health within the Division of Oncology. Her research focuses on breast and prostate cancer epidemiology, investigating the causes of common cancers and survivorship outcomes. Dr. John's interests encompass modifiable lifestyle factors, hormonal influences, and genetic contributions to cancer health disparities, particularly in Hispanic, African American, and Asian American populations. She has led numerous large-scale, multi-center studies, including the Northern California site of the Breast Cancer Family Registry and the San Francisco Bay Area Breast Cancer Study. Dr. John has been integral in managing research programs at the Stanford Cancer Institute and has served on various editorial boards and professional organizations.
