Dr. Esther Lim

Biography

Esther Lim is a Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University, focusing on Precision Cancer Therapy (PCT). Her research primarily investigates transcriptomic and proteomic profiles in melanoma patients undergoing treatment with selective kinase inhibitors and immunotherapy. With ten years of experience in cancer research, her expertise encompasses cancer cell biology and tumor immunology. She previously held a postdoctoral researcher position at the University of Oxford from 2011 to 2015, where she studied the pro-metastatic role of immune cells sustaining liver metastasis in colorectal cancer, providing significant insights into the immune system's involvement in cancer progression. Lim obtained her PhD in Pathology from the University of New South Wales, where her research focused on oxidative modifications of inflammatory proteins that affect immune responses. Before entering a PhD program, she completed an Honours project that involved the production and characterization of monoclonal antibodies against the chloride intracellular channel 1 (CLIC1) protein, graduating with class honors. Additionally, she has experience working as a research assistant in collaboration with industrial research partners developing monoclonal antibodies under GMP conditions for Phase I clinical trials.
