Biography

Eszter Ronai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics at Northwestern University, where she directs the Experimental Meaning Group. As a psycholinguist, her work primarily focuses on sentence processing, semantics-pragmatics, and syntax. Her research to date has concentrated on comprehension processing and scalar implicature. Ronai is particularly interested in the role of discourse context in pragmatics, adjectival semantics, information structure, and intonational meaning. Currently, her ongoing research investigates the interaction between information structure and syntax in Hungarian, in collaboration with Jessica Kantarovich, and is supported by an NSF grant (BCS-2518581).
