Ethan Katz-Bassett is an Associate Professor at the Data Science Institute of Columbia University. His research focuses on improving the reliability performance of Internet services through the design and deployment of scalable systems. His interests include Internet-scale distributed systems, Internet measurement, routing, and content delivery. Katz-Bassett builds systems capable of moving large amounts of data while generating significant measurements. He has received several accolades, including the NSF CAREER Award, and was a co-recipient of the NSDI Paper Award as well as the IETF Applied Networking Research Prize. Before joining Columbia, he worked at Google and taught in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California, where he held the Andrew Erna Viterbi Early Career Chair. He earned his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington.
