Biography

Eugene Y. Kissin, MD, is a Clinical Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine specializing in rheumatology. He is the program director of the rheumatology fellowship program, with a significant focus on medical education and musculoskeletal ultrasound. Dr. Kissin played a pivotal role in founding and leading the training program for the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists (USSONAR), which is a leading group in musculoskeletal ultrasound education in North America. He was selected to serve on the American College of Rheumatology's (ACR) Core Expert Panel for the appropriateness criteria of musculoskeletal ultrasound use in rheumatology and has been involved in various projects related to musculoskeletal ultrasound certification. Furthermore, he directs elective ambulatory rotations for medical students and residents at Boston University Medical Center. As the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion director for the rheumatology fellowship program, he has worked to enhance diversity within the fellowship program through the creation of standardized interview processes to reduce implicit bias. His efforts have led to a remarkable increase in the number of underrepresented minority applicants in the fellowship program over the past five years. Dr. Kissin is a prominent member of the Boston University Arthritis & Autoimmune Diseases Research Center.
