Biography

Eunjung Lee is a Professor and the Endowed Chair in Mental Health & Health at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. With 25 years of clinical social work practice supervision experience in mental health fields, her work focuses on serving marginalized populations affected by trauma and violence. She teaches clinical courses in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program and provides critical evaluation of social work theories in the doctoral program. Dr. Lee researches the psychotherapy process with a lens on cross-cultural clinical practice and community mental health. Utilizing critical theories concerning language, discourse, and power, her research examines everyday interactions within clinical practice, simulation-based learning in social work education, and the impact of social policy and media studies. Furthermore, she explores the dominant discourses that shape the experiences of immigrants and refugees in the context of global neoliberalism and theorizes the implications for Canadian multiculturalism and the welfare state.
