Dr. Eva Angenete

Biography

Eva Angenete is a Professor and Chief Physician specializing in colorectal surgery at the University of Gothenburg. She has focused her research on colorectal and anal cancer, emphasizing surgical treatment methods and health economics. Her notable contributions include the introduction of a new laparoscopic surgical technique for rectal cancer known as transanal TME. Eva heads a research group conducting clinical studies within the collaborative framework of the Scandinavian Surgical Outcomes Research Group (SSORG), which she has been a member of since its inception in 2009, facilitating research across seven hospitals in Denmark and Sweden. Her work involves investigating complications such as anastomotic leakage and quality of life for patients undergoing treatment for colorectal and anal cancer. Eva's current projects aim to improve surgical outcomes, patient quality of life, and to refine surgical techniques through extensive data analysis and cohort studies. Over the past decade, she has contributed to advancing knowledge and techniques in colorectal surgery, significantly impacting treatment protocols and patient care.
