Biography

Eva R. Kimonis, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist and Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia. She is the Director of the UNSW Parent-Child Research Clinic, where she specializes in the assessment and treatment of children exhibiting oppositional-defiant, destructive, and aggressive behaviors. Professor Kimonis earned her Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in applied developmental psychology from the University of New Orleans, focusing on developmental psychopathology and forensic psychology. Her research program primarily investigates the development, assessment, and treatment of callous-unemotional traits, empathy deficits, and conduct disorders, particularly among youth demonstrating aggressive behavior. She has published extensively in reputable peer-reviewed journals within the fields of clinical, developmental, and forensic psychology, and has authored several book chapters on antisocial behavior in youth. Professor Kimonis's achievements include receiving the 2023 Eric Taylor ‘Translational Research Practice’ Award from the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH) and the Fulbright Scholar Grant from the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Additionally, she has been awarded the 2015 Distinguished Career Contributions Award from the Society for the Scientific Study of Psychopathy. She is an experienced provider of parent management training interventions and is a certified therapist and trainer of the Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) program throughout Australia.
