Biography

Eva Kwoll is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Victoria. She specializes in Geomorphology, focusing on sediment transport and flow-vegetation interactions, particularly in the context of bedrock canyons. Her academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Bremen, completed in 2013, where she studied Coastal Dynamics at the Center for Marine Environmental Sciences (MARUM). Dr. Kwoll's research primarily examines how flow and sediment transport processes shape the Earth's surface. At UVic, she has ventured into exploring how flow and sediment interact with aquatic vegetation, studying extensive eelgrass beds and kelp forests and their effects on coastal morphology. Her research methodology involves extensive fieldwork using hydro-acoustic and optical sensors along with ship-based measurements, supplemented by laboratory and numerical investigations. Currently, Dr. Kwoll is seeking graduate students to join her projects, which include the turbulent flow dynamics of bedrock canyons and the assessment of sub-aqueous landslides and tsunami hazards. Her collaborative works are widely recognized, contributing to the scientific groundwork for understanding biogeomorphic processes in coastal evolution.
